ISO 41001:2018, the international standard for Facility Management Systems, sets out the requirements for companies’ facility management. It ensures that facility management is carried out effectively and successfully to support consumers’ demands and needs.

Preparation and Planning

  • Application: The first step is to apply to an accredited certification body for ISO 41001 Facility Management certification.
  • Planning the Facility Management System: The organisation draws up a plan for the Facility Management System. This plan includes Facility Management policies, objectives and management processes. 

System Setup and Implementation

  • Implementation of the Facility Management System: The organisation implements the Facility Management System in accordance with the ISO 41001 standard. This involves the monitoring, measurement and analysis of facility management.
  • Monitoring and evaluating facilities management performance: The performance indicators required to achieve the objectives relating to facilities management effectiveness are identified and monitored. 

Internal Audit and Management Review

  • Internal Audit: The organisation carries out internal audits to assess the effectiveness of the Facility Management System and its compliance with the standard. 
  • Management Review: Management reviews the performance of the Facility Management System and identifies areas for improvement. 

Certification Audit

  • Independent Audit: An independent audit is carried out by the certification body to assess the organisation’s Facility Management System and its compliance with the standards. 
  • Reporting and Feedback: Audit findings are reported and feedback is provided to facilitate the necessary improvements.
